The Kenosha (WI) Lighthouse
This past week my wife took a four-day watercolor painting workshop in Kenosha led by her favorite watercolor artist, Andy Evansen. I tagged along and worked from our downtown hotel room, or the public library. When I needed to get outside for a break I grabbed the camera and pointed it at the city’s North Pier lighthouse. I challenged myself to try to find a few different perspectives of the ionic red structure. I made one attempt at a sunrise shoot, but that failed miserably as the fog rolled in. (And when it’s really foggy one would think that a lighthouse light would be on… but nope… it definitely remained off.) It was a good exercise to focus on a single subject over the four days and see what I could make of it. Being in Kenosha for the week did make me realize how much I like living in a place with hills and roads that are not laid out in a grid pattern… but I do love the Great Lakes!
